Jacqueline Smith

Jacqueline Smith began her art career in ceramics, but a course in Japanese Brush Painting evoked the desire to explore watercolour and collage and since that time, there's no turning back.

Born in Winnipeg and raised "all across the country", she spent many years in California but recently returned to Vancouver Island and painting full time.

Jacqueline has had individual and group shows and has received awards in California; and since returning to Canada has received numerous awards for her paintings and collages in Federation of Canadian Artists Juried shows both on the island and in Vancouver.

She was a Signature Member of The Gold Coast Watercolour Society while in California, and an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists here. She has paintings and collections in California, New York, Georgia, France and Canada.

She is represented at TOSH 10 Gallery in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia.

She studied art at Ventura College and has studied with Zoltan Zabo, Skipp Lawrence, Catherine Chiang Liu, Tom Fong, Christopher Schink, David Langevin, Pat Dews, Carole Barnes and many more.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I paint for the sheer joy of it. Some visual delights will not leave me alone until I put paint to paper. It thrills and lifts my spirit. If I contribute to the joy or peace in anyone else, then I am successful.
